Robert Downey Jr.’s son Indio Downey arrested for drug possession
Indio Downey, the son of Robert Downey Jr., was arrested on charges of cocaine possession in West Hollywood yesterday.
According to TMZ, police pulled up next to a vehicle and noticed a passenger smoking something out of a pipe. When the car was pulled over and searched cocaine was allegedly found in Downey’s possession.
Indio, the son of Downey Jr. and singer Deborah Falconer, posted a $10k bond and was released shortly after midnight.
Indio appeared in the 2005 film Kiss Kiss Bang Bang alongside his famous father, who struggled with drug addiction for years – leading to prison before getting sober.
UPDATE: Robert Downey Jr., who was just ranked as Forbes’ most powerful actor, released the following statement about the arrest:
“Unfortunately there’s a genetic component to addiction and Indio has likely inherited it. Also, there is a lot of family support and understanding, and we’re all determined to rally behind him and help him become the man he’s capable of being. We’re grateful to the Sheriff’s department for their intervention, and believe Indio can be another recovery success story instead of a cautionary tale.”
