Andrew McCarthy at the premiere of "The Union" for the Tribeca Film Festival

The 10th annual Tribeca Film Festival kicked off last night with a star studded list of celebrities on hand to catch the open air premiere of Cameron Crowe’s “The Union” and a concert from Elton John.  Those in attendance included Martin Scorsese, Anna Kendrick, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Arianna Huffington, Susanna Hoffs and our focus, actor Andrew McCarthy.

McCarthy is best known for his string of monster 80’s successes including St. Elmo’s Fire, Pretty in Pink, Less Than Zero and Weekend at Bernie’s.  His recent work has mostly been on the televison side including appearances in Lipstick Jungle and Royal Pains.

Andrew looked casual and handsome as he sported a black suit with an open shirt.  He attended The Union, a musical documentary about the reunion of Elton John and Leon Russell after a nearly 40 year falling out, with Dolores Rice.  Rice is the mother of his daughter Willow who was born in 2006.  Here is Andrew and Dolores together from last night:

It’s good to see Andrew looking good.  For a generation of Americans that came into adulthood during the 1980’s his work and the movies he starred in still hold a very special place.
