PHOTO Danielle and Kevin Jonas welcome baby girl, share news via sponsored tweets
Danielle and Kevin Jonas welcomed daughter Alena Rose Jonas on Feb. 2 — while documenting the whole labor and delivery with sponsored tweets.
The unusual live tweets began on Sunday morning when Kevin announced, “#babyjonas is on the way!! Follow dreft for all the updates!!!!!!!!! It’s showtime #thisisnotadrill ”
Dreft, “#1 choice of pediatricians” for baby laundry detergents, then commenced with updates.

Although he was busy supporting his laboring wife, Kevin jumped back in to let everyone know “we’re pushing!!!!”
Then Dreft served what was surely the most practical purpose of a labor-and-delivery sponsor: Announcing the news while the new parents bonded with baby.
On this day, a little star was born. Meet Alena Rose Jonas. #BabyJonas pic.twitter.com/Wm0LoXDwCb

Even the littlest star can outshine the biggest game. Congratulations @KevinJonas & @DanielleJonas! #BabyJonas

Kevin retweeted both of those messages and then spoke exclusively with E! — home of Married to Jonas.
“We are overjoyed at the birth of Alena Rose Jonas… She is precious! We could not be more excited to start building our family together. We want to thank our family and friends for their love and support, and our fans for all of their well wishes.”
Although some are questioning the tastefulness of accepting sponsors for a baby’s birth, I’m willing to bet that little girl’s college fund was secured with a few 140-character messages. Plus, the whole family is happy and healthy… And that’s definitely what matters most.
