Man murdered ex-wife, her boyfriend with dozens of witnesses at high-school reunion
An estimated 100 graduates from the East Peoria Community High School Class of 1999 witnessed the murders of a former classmate and her boyfriend during their 15th high-school reunion gathering last Saturday.
Lori Moore and boyfriend Lance Griffel (pictured at top) were socializing with her old friends at the Fifth Quarter Sports Bar in Illinois when her ex-husband, Jason Moore, barged in and shot the couple point-blank.
The New York Daily News reports an off-duty FBI agent quickly responded by shooting the relentless ex-husband. The agent is credited with preventing “further tragedy.” Sadly, Lori and Lance later died at an area hospital. Jason was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Chief Dick Ganschow told Peoria Journal Star he believes Jason’s motive was obviously revenge: “You can play the ‘what if’ game over and over again, but I think it’s pretty clear.”
According to court records, Lori filed for divorce in March 2013. It was finalized in May 2013.
UPDATE As one of our commenter’s noted, Lori and Jason had two young children, who are now orphaned.
A family friend began a “Legacy for Lori” fund for the children. It is nearly halfway to the $25,000 goal.
