Love her or hate her Danielle Staub has arguably been the biggest star on the popular reality show The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Rumors that the firestarter would be walking away from the show have officially been confirmed by Bravo. Here is what the network’s senior vice president of original programming and development and host of the popular Housewives reunion shows, Andy Cohen, had to say about her departure.
“The reunion was Danielle’s last appearance on ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey.’ We thought the hugs were a great way to end two seasons of bitterness between the women.”
Cohen is referring to the recently aired RHNJ reunion show in which after many Jersey fireworks and shout-fests the season ended with an encouraging call to peace with some Jersey momma-hugs. No one made more enemies that Staub during the combative first two seasons of RHNJ. Her bitter feuds with Caroline Manzo, Jacqueline Laurita and Teresa Giudice were the driving force behind a majority of the drama this last season.
Bravo is currently casting for replacements in not only New Jersey but other locales as well. Cohen himself confirmed that they have been looking to launch a Real Housewives in Texas but haven’t found the right mix of ladies yet. So don’t fret fans it doesn’t look like the Housewives franchise is going anywhere anytime soon.
As for Staub, she is taking her departure in stride and there is growing speculation that she will be featured in a spin-off show on Bravo similar to Bethanny Frankel that would focus on her day-to-day life and her daughter’s career ambitions. Earlier last month Danielle hinted to as much in a comment made to Life & Style during her own birthday celebration.
“I don’t know if there are talks right now about a third season of the show, but I’m more excited about talks of my spin-off than anything else.”
RHNJ certainly will not be the same with the villain out of the picture. Next season could just be all the other ladies reminiscing about how much they straight hated the sex tape having, thug security hiring Jersey devil. And will Staub be able to carry her own show? I think if the producers can follow the train-wreck lead of that long ago reality hit The Anna Nicole Show they could have something.
