Late Monday Brittany Murphy’s British husband, Simon Monjack spoke out about her death to Access Hollywood, saying “My world was destroyed.”
Monjack described the day leading up to Murphy’s death as a “regular day” although she had been for about 7-10 days with shortness of breath and abdominal pain. He also said she had laryngitis, for which she had seen a doctor. Monjack also noted that Murphy was tired after making several films this year. Just a few weeks ago Monjack himself was hospitalized after having an asthma on a flight back from a movie Murphy had stopped working on, called The Caller. The word on the net was that Murphy had been fired, but her rep insisted that it was a mutual parting of ways.
Brittany’s husband also shot down speculation that he was a negative influence on her life because of rumors of a shady background, saying “I don’t know why anyone would think that. She found love. We found love. Brittany didn’t get to where Brittany was with anyone controlling her… Brittany was Brittany.”
Monjack was also touched and comforted by the message Brittany’s ex-boyfriend Ashton Kutcher tweeted after her death Sunday. Kutcher’s message was: “2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany’s family, her husband, & her amazing mother, Sharon. see you on the other side kid.”
