Georgia Mayor Donald Walker dies from likely suicide, Macon Telegraph confirms
Warner Robbins, GA Mayor Donald Walker died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds today at 1:49 p.m., according to the Macon Telegraph. An investigation is ongoing, but at this time there is no suicide note. The mayor was in the middle of an intense re-election campaign against three challengers. Walker had been mayor of Warner Robbins since 1994.
The deadly shot went off this morning, and was reported by his wife, Patricia Evans. He was rushed to the hospital at 11:30 a.m.
U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall, D-Ga., released this statement: “We’re shocked by the news of Mayor Walker’s death. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. His exceptional legacy as mayor will be difficult to match. His is truly a life worth celebrating.”
