Florida kid steals second school bus after stealing aunt’s truck

Florida School Bus

“Our initial reaction was ‘oh no, not again.'” – Parker Police Chief Charles Sweatt

The same 12-year-old boy who stole a Bay County, Florida school bus and took it for a joy ride back in June was BUS-ted for stealing another school bus Wednesday. This second cheese wagon abduction happened less than 24 hours after the kid appeared in court for stealing the first student transportation device!

Bay District Schools safety and security officer Mike Jones told The News Herald:

“We found out the bus was stolen when a Carrabelle police over in Franklin County actually pulled the bus over for erratic driving and found that same 12-year-old boy, Michael Propst, the one that stole one from us three weeks ago. He just got out of (the Department of Juvenile Justice) yesterday on the last case where he stole the bus from us.”

So how did Propst manage to jack another big yellow taxi? He first stole his aunt’s truck (which is still missing) and took that ride to the local elementary school where he found a school bus with its keys hidden (not too well obviously).

WMBB points out that his latest exploit might have been more adventuresome than the police realized.:

“Lights in Port St. Joe were down preparing for the new Cape San Blas lighthouse and Propst would have driven right through officers who were directing traffic early Wednesday morning.”

Kid was charged with a bunch of new stuff to add to his previous charges. His aunt said she intends on pressing charges too.

Sweatt added, “He’s not unruly or resists arrest or anything of that nature from what I understand. He’s just into stealing vehicles.”

So, the next time you’re headed to Panama City Beach for a little vacay and you see a school bus headed in the other direction being driven by a young man – make sure you do the neighborly thing and give Michael a wave!
