Cool down with some Hello Kitty beer!

It’s hard to go anywhere without seeing the likeness of Hello Kitty plastered across a gazillion different products from shirts, to floor mats to beer. Wait… Whah!?!!

That’s right folks, Hello Kitty is a beer brand over in China in a marketing effort to sell more cold ones, according to The Atlantic.

Folks in Taiwan and China can choose from 6 delicious different alcoholic beverage options including passion fruit, peach, banana and lemon-lime. They only contain about half the alcoholic content of a Budweiser but, “They’re so ridiculously smooth and tasty that one can barely tell they’re drinking beer. It’s almost like drinking fruit juice, even if the cans do say ‘beer.'”

While it seems like a direct attempt at appealing to youth, the numbers would bear out that it very well might be women that are the target of the Kitty cans. Recent statistics indicate that only 15 percent of women in China consider themselves heavy drinkers as opposed to 55.6 percent of men.

No word yet on if the Hello Kitty beers will be making appearances in America anytime soon. Until then, I guess we’ll just have to keep refreshed with HK tattoos.
