Carrie Underwood shares first pic of her face after facial injury

Carrie Underwood shared with her Instagram followers the above image of herself, the first since a severe facial injury this past fall. “Missed these guys. #bandrehearsals,” the singer wrote as a caption on the shot. It was a long-range shot that doesn’t depict exactly what her face looks like now but still showed an immense amount of courage considering the buildup over her accident and resulting surgery.

“There is also another part of the story that I haven’t been ready to talk about since I have still been living it and there has been much uncertainty as to how things will end up,” she wrote in a post to her fan club this January. “It’s crazy how a freak random accident can change your life.

“In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well. I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [Underwood’s husband] Mike that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in.” She said in the post that she doesn’t look the same as she used to, which must be a difficult thing to face, but being open about struggling with this with no doubt help others.

She had to cancel a benefit concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena and has been out of the public eye ever since the accident, so it’s great to see her rehearsing and sharing with social media again.

Several months ago she did share this photo of herself on Instagram showing only her eyes. Insecurities are understandable in this situation but true beauty is in how we demonstrate our character and spirit, which Carrie showing in spades.
