It seemed kind of shocking when two movies were named as Oscar winners for sound editing: Zero Dark Thirty and Skyfall. Has a tie ever happened before at The Academy Awards?
Yes, but it’s only happened twice before: in 1932 both Wallace Beery and Frederic March took home awards for The Champ and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and in 1968 Katharine Hepburn and Barbara Streisand both took home little golden men for A Lion in Winter and Funny Girl.
Even though it’s happened twice before, it’s still a rare thing that hasn’t happened in 35 years!
