Months ago, plans were announced for a Boy Meets World spin-off which would follow the daughter of Corey and Topanga Matthews in her journey through childhood. At the time, the role of Riley had yet to be cast, but after a nationwide casting search, the producers of Girl Meets World found their girl in Rowan Blanchard .

“As soon as Rowan walked into the room, I was reminded of why Ben Savage was loved as Cory Matthews,” Michael Jacobs, producer of the Girl Meets World pilot, tells Entertainment Weekly. “Rowan is real and accessible and I am hopeful this girl is about to meet a world that will love growing up with her as well.”

Rowan has quite the impressive resume for an 11-year-old. Since hitting the scene in 2010 when she appeared in Dance-A-Lot Robot, Rowan went on to star in Spy Kids: All the Time in World in 4D and The Back-up Plan.

After the news of Girl Meets World first hit the web back in November, Danielle Fishel aka Topanga looked back at her time on the Boy Meets World set and vowed to make the new show just as amazing as her former hit.

“Those years were among the most warm, hilarious, insightful, educational years of my life and I wouldn’t trade them for the world,” Danielle wrote on her blog. “Another thing I wouldn’t trade for anything is the integrity and the heart with which BMW was made. I promise with the entirety of my heart that we will make GMW with the same honesty, innocence, and intelligence that you learned to expect from BMW.”

The pilot is set to begin filming next month and the series will air on the Disney Channel at the end of the year — if it gets picked up that is.
