Alabama aunt catfishes niece, discovers niece wants her dead

Marissa Williams Catfish

Nev and Max from MTV’s hit Catfish have unearthed some crazy catfishin’ but it’s safe to say they’ve never come across the likes of Marissa Williams.

19-year-old Marissa Williams has been living with her aunt in Fosters, Alabama since April. According to court records obtained by AL.com, things weren’t so hot between the two family members because of Marissa’s habit of inviting strangers she had met via social media over to the house.

When Marissa’s aunt put her foot down and stopped allowing her to have men over to the house she responded by blocking her aunt from accessing her Facebook page. It was at this point that Williams’ aunt went all catfish in trying to get to the bottom of the situation. She made up a fake profile under the name Tre “Topdog” Ellis (good one!) and succeeded at adding Williams as a friend.

Things got weird quickly however as the unnamed aunt posing as “Topdog” started finding out about the real Marissa:

Williams began unknowingly talking to her aunt, posing as Ellis, in late May, and on the first day they interacted online, she gave the fictional boy her phone number and home address and asked him to come over and get drunk with her. She then offered to have sex with him if he’d pay her $50 cell phone bill.

A few days later Marissa told the man she thought was “Topdog” that she wanted out of Alabama. She suggested that he kidnap her and “shoot and kill her aunt if necessary.” Surprisingly, the aunt didn’t go to the police at this point, instead deciding to continue her dangerous catfishing.

As time passed Marissa’s plans got seriously dark as she provided info to “Topdog” on how to break into her aunt’s room so he could murder her and then her fiancé. Williams then asked if he could shoot her cousin and the family dog on the way out as she packed her things in his car.

THAT was enough to motivate the aunt to contact the police. Annnnnd this is what I’m guessing Marissa’s reaction was like when she realized “Topdog” was her aunt:

OMG

According to a deposition, Williams admitted to the plot but indicated that she didn’t really mean for anyone to be killed. She was then arrested and charged with solicitation of murder.
