The editors of People Magazine announced today that actress Kerry Washington is their pick for Best Dressed Woman 2013.
“It wasn’t exactly a difficult decision for the editors here. After all, Washington has been killing it in the style department lately,” People‘s Style Watch revealed.
Indeed the 36-year-old is a perpetual red carpet winner. Whether she goes with an Old Hollywood style dress or a more modern look, Kerry always manages to stun.
Yet, the Django Unchained star revealed her fashion philosophy is really quite simple.
“For me the goal is to feel comfortable, event-appropriate and to be an elevated, more special version of myself or to feel like the best version of myself in that context and just be in the moment.”
Although Kerry understates her own style selections, she is an admitted fan of fashion.
“I’ve had to learn about fashion because as an actor, it’s such a huge part of the marketing,” she told The Associated Press earlier this month. “I’m the daughter of a professor, and an A student, and I approach it as a student. I do my research. I stay informed. I communicate with the designers.”
Kerry recently applied that fashion knowledge while serving as a guest judge on the season finale of Project Runway.
