Who would have ever imagined Alabama fans being sore losers in defense of the Auburn Tigers? This certainly appears to be the case as graduating quarterback AJ McCarron’s mom and famous girlfriend Katherine Webb have come under fire for critical tweets about FSU Heisman-winning quarterback Jameis Winston.
Following last night’s unforgettable finale to the season and the BCS era, Dee Dee McCarron sent out a tweet as an excited and emotional Winston answered questions immediately after leading the Seminoles to a last-minute victory over Auburn in front of a crowd of over 90,000 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
She wrote:
Almost immediately the outspoken sports mom started getting hammered for the comment, with many insinuating that the sentiment carried racial undertones. Just for a clear picture of what she was reacting to, here’s Winston’s interview in question:
Dee Dee McCarron deleted the tweet shortly after posting it and later addressed her critics with another:
Any1 that knows our family knows we r far from racist. My tweet was not in anyway meant that way. I sincerely apologize if it offended any1

McCarron openly expressed her rooting interest in Auburn leading up to the title game, especially pulling for their star running back Tre Mason. Dee Dee’s son AJ was a runner-up to Jameis Winston in this year’s Heisman voting.
Adding fuel to the fire, AJ’s famous girlfriend and former Miss Alabama, Katherine Webb, favorited a tweet that was even more direct than Dee Dee McCarron’s. The tweet read, “Jameis Winston needs to learn sign language to communicate because listening to him attempt to speak English is just insulting.”
When Webb was called out on this she replied with the following:

I totally understand the sometimes irrational motivations of a sports fan but for AJ’s mom to delete her tweet and then for AJ’s girl to call those who challenged her “stupid” because her action was an “accident” kind of sounds, at best, like sour grapes to me.
