The Blonds partner with Mattel for first ever drag queen Barbie Doll

Drag Queen Barbie

The Blonds (Phillipe and David,) an extremely fierce NYC design team and couple who design sparkly, studded dresses for Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, and Beyonce, have teamed up with Mattel for the most fabulous Barbie ever.

Her face and dress are inspired by Phillipe Blond, who dresses in drag, making this the first ever drag queen Barbie!

This may raise some controversy, but guess what? Barbie’s like the Honey Badger, she doesn’t care what anyone thinks!

Mattel’s Vice President of marketing Cathy Cline told the NY Times: “One of the great things about Barbie is that she continues to push the envelope. Barbie doesn’t worry about what other people think.”

Here’s a design The Blond did for Britney:

Right now you can only get designs from The Blonds by being a super special private customer like Katy Perry. Hopefully they’ll develop a line to sell in stores so people can enjoy the fabulousness even if they aren’t Rihanna. Spread the hotness.

The Blonds Blond Diamond sells for $125, and you can pre-order it here for a December delivery.

I find I odd that Mattel put up such a fight to make the bald Barbie, yet they’re willing to come out with a drag queen Barbie. I would think the bald one with be a higher priority but I guess it’s all about the $$

I find this absolutely disturbing and disgusting! I will never buy another thing from Mattel!

Why, because you hate the fact that a man wants to dress in drag and the makeup on the face EVERY OTHER BARBIE HAS, and the dress are inspired by a man in women’s attire? This doesn’t harm you any, why do you act like it does?

I bet this would be under the christmas tree for some little girl in your life if you hadn’t read this article and known it had anything to do with a guy in drag.

Take your hate and bigotry somewhere else. YOU are disturbing and disgusting.

I find it disturbing that Mattel would sell these dolls at $120 to benefit nobody yet they put up such a fight in making the bald Barbies that could benefit children with cancer and other diseases. This makes me sad. I see nothing wrong with drag but why even make this Barbie when they could do something similar with a bald Barbie and donate the money? Or at least some of it.

And I wouldn’t buy this doll even if it were $10 because of all the caked on makeup. I don’t buy Bratz or any of the other hoochified Barbies for the same reason.
