Stories move fast in today’s landscape! Before I could tell you that country music singer Mindy McCready and her 5-year-old son Zander were the subject of a Florida Department of Children and Families missing persons report she has emailed Access Hollywood denying that she has “stolen her child.”
The Celebrity Rehab 3 cast member has had a turbulent life following chart success in the mid 90’s. She’s been in jail for scuffling with her mom, she was hospitalized after an apparent suicide attempt and she fought the release of a tape in which she discussed having an affair with married MLB pitcher Roger Clemmons when she was merely a teenager.
In this latest incident, the “Guys Do It All the Time” singer was supposed to be at the home of her son’s father and it was discovered that she and the young boy had gone missing. She’s allowed to visit her son but she does not have custody. In fact, it is her mother who is the legal custodian of Zander. DCF requested an emergency pickup order and was granted so by a judge. It was ruled that McCready had to return her son by Thursday afternoon or risk an arrest warrant.
McCready told Access Hollywood via email that:
“I am working with lawyers to try to get all this straightened out. I did not steal my child, as it would be impossible for me to kidnap what already belongs to me! There never was any missing persons report and never an Amber Alert.”
McCready has also revealed that she’s seven months pregnant with twins!
UPDATE: Friday authorities took her Zander from Mindy. They found mother and son hiding in a closet.
