It has not been a good year for Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s star Tim Norman! In addition to OWN announcing this will be the last season of the popular reality series, Tim was slapped with a restraining order by his ex, Basketball Wives star Jennifer Williams, and has now been charged with assault after allegedly punching a chef in the face!
The District Attorney of Harris County, Texas formally charged Tim with misdemeanor assault on April 19 stemming from an incident in which Tim allegedly punched an employee in the eye during a dispute over paychecks. The alleged victim is a former Sweetie Pie’s chef named Horace Hodges, who was called as a witness by Tim’s ex Jennifer as part of her attempt to have her temporary restraint order against Tim made permanent.
The alleged assault took place back in April of 2017, and Horace Hodges filed a civil suit against Tim and Sweetie Pie’s on June 2. According to online court records, that civil suit is still active — due mainly to the fact that Tim has been too evasive to get served. Here is an affidavit detailing the many attempts to serve Tim between November of 2011 and April of 2018:
Tim’s ex Jennifer got a temporary restraining order at the end of January of this year, and she added Horace to her petition to make the order permanent in March. I am guessing that it was Horace’s addition as a witness to Jennifer’s petition that triggered a criminal investigation and the assault charge against Tim?
Here is the investigating officer’s testimony from the affidavit charging Tim with assault:
It was reported by Officer Rodriguez, N of the Houston Police Department, the Complainant, Horace Hodges was punched in the face by defendant Tim James Norman on 4/16/2017. At [Sweetie Pie’s former address] in Harris County, Texas. Mr. Hodges stated he knows Tim by name and sight as his boss and a famous character on the TV Show “Sweetie Pies.” Affiant began his investigation by calling the complainant, Horace, who stated he was talking to the defendant, Tim about paychecks for the other employees. Horace stated at this time it escalated to where Tim became angry and at one point punched him in the left eye causing pain, swelling and a black eye. I then spoke to Tim who stated he knew of the incident, but did not see what happen. I then called Jennifer Williams who was at the restaurant Sweetie Pies the day of the incident. Jennifer stated she did not see the assault, but Tim told her he punched Horace minutes after Horace left the location. Horace stated he wants to pursue charges in this assault case. The District Attorney’s Office was contacted and charges of assault were accepted against defendant Tim Norman.
Strangely, Horace states on his LinkedIn profile that he was Executive Sous Chef at Sweetie Pie’s from January, 2017 to March of 2018.
Tim Norman, who was also rumored to be dating former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks for a hot minute, has not been arrested for the incident. There does not appear to be a court hearing date set, but court records indicate that his bail has been set at $500 for whenever he is booked.
I assume that Tim is hoping that his sure-to-be brief stint behind bars won’t overlap the 100th (and final) episode of Welcome To Sweetie Pie’s, which airs June 9 at 9/8c on OWN. Tim is scheduled to join Miss Robbie, Charles, Monique, Jan, Linda and Cousin Michelle for a 60-minute after-show immediately following the finale at 10/9c.
