On Thursday Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren received the prestigious Hasty Pudding pot given to the woman of the year as selected by Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals.
The annual tradition includes a spoof roast and during this part of the proceedings Mirren was asked to participate in a little Charades. When the 68-year-old was presented with the challenge of twerking she at first tried a combination of the letter T and working (pretty smart).
After joking, “I refuse to do it,” and dropping some bleep-worthy commentary, she relented and did the seductive dance:
The game Dame said of her moves, “I’ve tried in my bedroom in private, in front of the mirror, very unsuccessfully, so absolutely humiliating to have to do it in public in front of a whole load of people. But I obviously couldn’t get out of it, it was an inevitable end to the whole proceedings.”
Hasty Pudding Theatricals is America’s oldest undergraduate drama troupe. It honors performers who have made a lasting and impressive contribution to entertainment.
I applaud Mirren for her bravery, and hey, the guy holding the sign was TOTALLY checking her out!
