Marty McCloskey The Hero

The Rock is pumped and ready for the premiere of his reality-competition show The Hero tonight on TNT. Via the show’s official site they bill the program as:

“An epic competition testing the strength, courage, and integrity of a diverse group of nine individuals. Each week, the contestants will be tested, physically, mentally, and morally, as they try to prove that they truly deserve the title of “The Hero” and the life-changing grand prize that goes with it. With temptations around every corner, America watches to see what the contestants are willing to overcome, undergo, and sacrifice on behalf of themselves and others. In the end, it’s America’s call on who will be ‘The Hero.'”

One of these wannabe winners is Marty McCloskey from Centereach, New York. His motto is, “Live life to the fullest and always be happy. You never know what life is going to throw at you, but if you look at the positive in every situation, you can achieve and accomplish anything.”

By all accounts it looks like McCloskey has the brawn but will he have the brains to match? Here’s his official bio info as well as his introductory video and Q&A. Afterwords his links for Twitter and Facebook have been included in case you find yourself pulling for the dude who “beasts it.”

MARTY MCCLOSKEY

Marty is a 24-year-old, high-energy construction worker. His dad raised him after losing his mother at a young age. Due to financial struggles, they have lived in 15 different places in New York. His past experiences drive him to work hard and be a good person.

What do you think it means to be a hero? To me a hero has to be someone that puts others before themselves and is honest and trustworthy and does anything they have to do to succeed and be a good person.

What’s the most important quality that a hero must possess?  I feel the most important thing a hero must possess is determination and the will to do what is right and succeed no matter what the odds.

When did you first realize you have what it takes to be a hero? I have always been crazy, strong physically and mentally, honest, trustworthy, tough, super determined, fearless, and very hard working so I’m not sure when exactly I said “wow I could be a hero” but I feel I have everything and then some to be a hero or at least try to be one.

What’s your biggest strength? My ferocious determination and competitiveness. I never give up, and I will literally die before I ever give up and I’m really strong minded and strong headed so I will do whatever it takes to complete a task whether its physical or mental. I don’t accept defeat.
What’s your biggest weakness? I’m a sore loser. I hate losing. I always feel I should win everything and when I don’t I get really mad.

You vs. The Rock: What would be the outcome? Me vs. The Rock!!! Well I can tell you one thing – I will go my absolute hardest in whatever it is so he better be ready.

7. If your life were an action movie, what would it be called?  It would be called “BEASTINNNN IT” because that’s what I do everyday.

The Hero Marty

What are three things you couldn’t live without? My family and loved ones, the gym and nature.

What’s your biggest fear? Losing the people I love, other than that I don’t have any.

Describe your most hero-like moment. Honestly, I don’t really know. That’s hard to say – I’m not a police officer or soldier or fireman that risk their life everyday to help people – those are heroes. I’m just a 24-year-old dude that tries to help people and be nice to everyone and help my family and friends when they need me.

What’s your guilty pleasure? My guilty pleasure would probably be sweets. I eat really healthy and go to the gym six days a week for three hours but I occasionally like my pizza and candy and junk food.

What accomplishment in life are you the most proud of?  I think my biggest accomplishment in life is just that I’m a really chill down to earth dude that loves to have fun, help people and be a champ to everyone that I meet.  Also being tough and not letting the bad things that happen in life get me down.  And getting on this badass show is pretty sweet too.

What’s your biggest motivator? Showing everyone and myself what I have and what you can do when you put your mind to something and never give up. I also use things that happened to me in my life like not playing in sports when I should be out there, and people telling me I can’t do something and doubting me, that’s when I say oh yeah and beastttttt whatever it is that I supposedly can’t do just to show them. That’s what I use as motivation.

Who’s your hero? My dad is my hero hands down. He is the best man on the planet and has done so much for my brother and me and sacrificed his life to help ours. I love him so much, and I just want to make him and my brother Jake proud of me and that is another motivator for me.

What would be your theme song? I don’t know really. If I find one I will tell you.

Why did you want to be on this show? I wanted to be on this show because it’s everything I stand for in my own life. The whole point of this show is to be a good person, a “hero,” and work hard and be honest and help your fellow teammates to complete a goal or task. You have to be both physically and mentally tough and you have to give it your all in everything you do. This show was awesome, and I want to be a dude that parents and kids can sit and watch and say that kid is a good kid – he’s crazy and energetic and a fierce competitor but a classy dude that doesn’t drink or smoke or party. I would love to be a role model for people of all ages.

What gets your adrenaline pumping?  Anything that has to do with competition or a challenge, sports, driving fast, white water rafting, and a lot more.  I am always doing something cool and adrenaline packed and crazy that’s just how I am and always will be. I look for stuff to give me that adrenaline rush I need.  Working out also helps with that too. I BEAST IT.
