Keri Russell, of former Felicity fame, and co-star/boyfriend Matthew Rhys have confirmed that they’re adding “adorable expectant parents” to their list of roles. The pair have played married KGB spies on the hit FX series The Americans since 2013.
An “insider close” to Russell claimed on January 6 that the actress is “more than four months along.” Now the happily expectant parents have confirmed the news at a Television Critics Association panel in Pasadena, California, on Saturday. Joking about the challenges of shooting the mom-to-be’s action scenes, Rhys said, “She’s now incredibly effective with a blow dart from a seated position at 12 feet.”
Americans co-star Noah Emmerich confirmed the news to ET on Saturday. He also laughed about the tricks behind shooting an action series with a pregnant star: “It looks like she swallowed a large pea….But yes, we shoot around it.” He added, “She’s always standing behind a huge counter with a toaster on it.”
Russell’s pregnancy will not change the plotting on the popular show, which has five episodes left this season.
Keri Russell already has two children, River Russell Deary (8) and Willa Lou Deary (4), from a previous marriage with Shane Deary, whom she divorced in 2013. This will be Rhys’s first child.
