PHOTOS Quvenzhané Wallis as Annie on set of remake
It may not be the hard-knock life for Oscar-nominated actress Quvenzhané Wallis, but the 10-year-old looked adorable on set as she takes on the iconic role of Annie in the upcoming remake of the beloved classic.
Wallis was photographed in character on the streets of Harlem, New York on Tuesday. The reboot from director Will Gluck is set for a Christmas Day 2014 release. The film already has an impressive lineup of A-listers attached to it including Jay-Z and Will Smith as producers, Jamie Foxx as “Daddy” Warbucks and Cameron Diaz set to portray Miss Hannigan.
Young Quvenzhané burst onto the scene last year with her amazing performance as Hush Puppy from the independent film Beasts of the Southern Wild. She was the darling of the awards season and deservingly so.
Wallis’ Annie style reflects the modern take the film is approaching as she’s seen on a public rental Citibike sporting pink high tops, a matching pink jacket and her hair high and curly, reminiscent of the red curls Aileen Quinn sported in the 1982 film version.

When the remake was first announced in 2011, Will Smith’s daughter, Willow, was set for the lead but she backed out. Now the role is all Wallis’ and I have a feeling she’s gonna be better than good.
