While dining in New York City today, Spider-Man‘s Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield noticed the usual gaggle of paparazzi snapping away. Rather than keep their heads down, the couple decided to send a message to the photographers — and those of us now checking out the pictures.
On the left side, Emma held up a card that read…
Good morning! We were eating and saw a group of you guys with cameras outside. And so we thought, let’s try this again. We don’t need the attention, but these wonderful organizations do…
Andrew’s sign picked up where Emma’s message left off with a list of charitable groups. They concluded, “Here’s to the stuff that matters. Have a great day!”
To honor their wishes (and also because the groups are very deserving), here are links to the organizations Emma and Andrew mentioned…
Youth Mentoring Connection, which matches at-risk youth with caring adults who strive to help the younger buddies “reach productive, conscious adulthood.”
Autism Speaks, which is “the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention, treatments and a cure for autism.”
Worldwide Orphans, which aims to help orphaned children become healthy, independent and productive members of their communities while nurturing them with the love and attention “that is every child’s birthright.”
Gilda’s Club New York City, which Gene Wilder opened in his late wife’s memory to help those living with cancer “build social and emotional support as a supplement to medical care.”
UPDATE I was just reminded that Emma and Andrew wrote nearly identical signs two years ago… They just added Youth Mentoring Connection and Autism Speaks this time. Love the commitment!
