Days after Miranda Kerr “accidentally” uploaded a photo of her waist digitally whittled, the ever outspoken Rosie O’Donnell Photoshopped a picture of her own. Although both photos showed slimmer versions of the ladies, they received drastically different reactions.
“A paparazzi pix I photoshopped myself – notice missing arm flab – trimmer tummy,” Rosie said in the caption for the photo posted above. The image on the left is the original shot of her playing on a Florida beach with her baby daughter, Dakota. In the right picture, Rosie slimmed her arm and stomach.
Whereas Rosie was quickly applauded by her 700,000+ Twitter followers for the honest photo, Miranda was harshly criticized for posting her own digitally manipulated picture. That controversy began when Miranda uploaded a picture of her, Doutzen Kroes and Alessandra Ambrosio backstage at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2012. Miranda’s waist seemed to be significantly slimmed while Doutzen and Alessanda’s bodies were untouched.
After getting called out for the Photoshopped picture, Miranda deleted the original post and replaced it with the unaltered version.
“Hi guys, here is the original VS image! When I re-posted the photo this week to support the girls I screen grabbed it off the internet when I was working in Japan,” she said of the original picture. “I had no idea it was photoshopped. All good intentions- sorry for the confusion and congratulations to the girls for such a great show!”
It’s unclear whether Rosie intended to call out Miranda’s photo pas. Either way, she made a point about how easy it is to control what society sees.
