This Sunday Ludacris gave away 20 cars to people who wrote 300 word essays about their struggles to get to work without a car. Participants had to pay for tags, registration, tax and insurance, but the vehicles came with 30 days of free gas. You can see a list of the winners at www.theludacrisfoundation.org.

“People are getting laid off, and now are looking for jobs,” Ludacris said. “To be efficient, you need some transportation of your own to get there. That’s why I wanted to give back to those who need it.”

More than 4000 people submitted essays to vie for the 20 cars available. Nissan South, an Atlanta dealership, partnered with Ludacris for the giveaway. Many people are still going through more difficult than normal times right now, and this is a bit of an Oprah-esque breath of fresh LudAir. The Ludacris Foundation also helps out a number of people in housing communities during Christmas time, donating clothes, food, and toys. They also offer a number of educational outreach programs to underprivileged youth; teaching healthy lifestyles, goal-setting, and leadership skills.
