PHOTO George Clooney and his dad protested and got arrested
Perhaps the biggest name in Hollywood has been arrested in Washington D.C. today while protesting.
George Clooney, along with his father and many others were taken away in handcuffs while protesting at the Sudan embassy in the nation’s capital. The protesters accuse Sudan’s president, Omar al-Bashir, of provoking a humanitarian crisis and blocking food and aid from entering the Nuba Mountains in the county’s border region with South Sudan.
In an act of defiance the protesters stepped on to the grounds of the embassy and gave speeches about the alleged grievances. At this time they were warned that they had to move and following the third warning were arrested.
Let’s see if we can’t get a movement started! Free Clooney! Free Clooney! Free Clooney!
Clooney commented Friday that he wants to draw more attention to this issue (success) and is impressed with Obama’s personal engagement in regards to it. The actor also said that if action is not taken in the next three to four months “we’re going to have a real humanitarian disaster.”
This is an issue Clooney is obviously very passionate about. The following is a video he filmed on location for the ENOUGHproject. Be warned some of the images are graphic:
