Around 9:30 A.M. Saturday morning a couple left a Kountry Kitchen restaurant in Vero Beach, FL and encountered a woman who tried to hand them a toddler. 31-year-old Amanda Warner first told the couple that she’d found the baby boy but as the conversation continued she admitted that she was doing this because she “couldn’t take it anymore.”
The couple refused to take the child in their arms, so Amanda sat her son down beside them and drove off in a black truck. They were able to snap photos of vehicle and her license plate before she left the parking lot. She was located by police and charged with unlawful desertion of a child and resisting resisting arrest without violence.
“It pulls the heartstrings and you hate to see that. You’d like to see them reunited one day but if they can’t be and it’s best for the child that’s unfortunate but maybe at end of the day it’s what’s best for the child or children,” Chief Currey said about the incident.
The two-year-old boy appears to be in good health and is currently in custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families. Warner is currently out on bond.
