Yesterday after her lawyer released a statement that denied 2004’s American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino had anything to do with the break-up of Antwaun Cook’s marriage to Paula Cook, the singer attempted suicide by ingesting a bottle of aspirin.

She was admitted to the hospital Monday night for a “medication overdose,” and although her life was reportedly never in danger, Radar Online reports that the police had responded to a suicide attempt.

Here’s the 911 call:

Fantasia, who has her own reality show on VH1, was pushed to the brink by this recent scandal. Fantasia For Real Season 2 will air October 2, and it’s unclear if any of this drama will be included in the series.

Paula Cook alleged in court documents that Fantasia started an affair with her husband Antwaun, a T-Mobile salesman, last August, and that they “recorded their sexual activity.” Although Fantasia has denied breaking up the marriage, she hasn’t explicitly denied an affair. It would be hard to considering she had his last name inked on her shoulder, and even showed it off last November!

Fantasia is now doing a press circuit to promote her new album, and to address her suicide attempt.  She told GMA:

“Everybody feels that I tried to harm myself over a man, but I’ve been in a lot of bad relationships. … That had somewhat to do with it, because, you know, it was so heavy. It was brand-new information. I was already going through so much. But I think it was just six years of everything, of me holding all that stuff on the inside, not letting it out. And I just got very, very tired.”

UPDATE, November 22, 2010: Fantasia testified in court today saying that she aborted Antwaun’s baby right before her suicide attempt.
