Evan Rachel Wood and husband Jamie Bell welcomed a baby boy on Monday. In her return to Twitter on Wednesday, Evan professed she and her son are “forever grateful” for Ricki Lake’s documentary on home birthing options.

“I have to say thank you @RickiLake for your inspiring documentary The Business of Being Born,” Evan tweeted on Tuesday. “I never knew I had a choice when it came to labor. It taught me so much & aided my decision in having a natural home birth which my son & I are now forever grateful for.”

Ricki, who was the executive producer of the 2008 documentary, responded by saying she was grateful the new mom had a positive birth experience and has a beautiful son.

The Business of Being Born
explores the options available to expectant mothers and bucks the traditional wisdom that hospital births are always best. Actresses such as Alyson Hannigan, Melissa Joan Hart, Cindy Crawford and Gisele Bundchen appeared in the film to discuss their own natural childbirths. Ricki also allowed cameras in for the birth of her second child, which became a central scene in the critically acclaimed movie.

The Business of Being Born is a passionate ground-level examination of home childbirth, anchored in a scene in which its executive producer, Ricki Lake, the actress and former talk-show host, gives birth to her second child in a bathtub,” New York Times film critic Stephen Holden said.

One of the best parts of home childbirth is that the new family is immediately able to feel comfortable. We hope that is the case for Evan, Jamie and their new baby boy!
