The true star of Crimson Peak was the scary gothic mansion itself. Unfortunately, there’s no historic Allerdale Hall in rural England, but director Guillermo del Toro did build the mansion of his nightmares at Pinewood Toronto Studios. In fact, the entire film was shot in Canada, on sound stages and few choice locations including Toronto’s Casa Loma.
