PHOTOS The Walking Dead Season 6 poster hints at great divide among the cast

The Walking Dead Season 6 poster Rick Morgan

Just when it appeared that Rick had convinced the naive townsfolk of Alexandria that sometimes war is the answer, in walked the peaceful post-zombie-apocalypse pro-pacifist Morgan. Judging from the first Walking Dead Season 6 poster released by AMC, it appears that Morgan’s presence will once again divide the cast, with the original crew on the side of Rick, and the residents of Alexandria backing Morgan.

The poster also uses the age-old imagery of wilderness versus civilization in the split screen, with the natural backdrop of a forest behind Rick Grimes and his TWD OGs, and the suburban homes of Alexandria behind Morgan.

Among the characters behind Rick are Daryl, Glenn, Maggie, and Sasha — and I assume that is Carol who is cropped out wearing the floral patterned shirt, and perhaps Carl in front of her? (Where’s Michonne?!?)

UPDATE – The Walking Dead official Twitter account has a wider (but not as tall) version of the photo as its profile banner, and in it you can see the rest of the people behind Rick, including Carol, Michonne, Carl, Tara, Rosita, Eugene, and Abraham. It also shows a wall and a church in the background, which complicates the symbolism a bit:

And there’s a slightly taller version from The Walking Dead Tumblr account, but it’s not as wide:

The members of #TeamChumps (Yeah, I’m #TeamRick all the way!) include Deanna, Jessie, Aaron, Spencer, and Wussy McBackstabber himself, Gabriel the Guilty.

As far as when The Walking Dead Season 6 will premiere, the show has historically lined its new seasons up with New York Comic Con, which would mean fans can expect to see the guys and gals smashin’ walker skulls again on Sunday, October 11. But that is purely speculation. Perhaps AMC will officially announce a date at San Diego Comic Con.

They’ll come to realize that a Ricktatorship is the way to survive. As much as I like Morgan, he just isn’t group material.

Rick owned my heart the day he bit open that guys throat in the slaughter house… LOL if he didn’t before, in that moment I was like…you want this guy on your side. LOL

      • Bruja

        That was good.

I was a fan of Rick when he put down the “crawler”(Hannah is her name. If you have not watched the ‘webisodes’ the first one is called “Torn Apart” and is the story of how she came to become the crawling ‘walker’) in the first ‘TWD’ episode, “Days Gone Bye”. Rick apologized for what happened to her and showed her mercy.

He had me at day one. 🙂

That’s awesome, I really am NOT the kind of girl who would normally watch such a gory show. I’m more…housewives and Teen Mom. But my hubby was like “just try it, one episode” I was HOOKED! I think I’m attracted to the whole…what WOULD it be like if the “apocolypse” happened, how would I react, how would humanity react…etc. Anyways, needless to say I’m such a fan of the show, will have to check out all the extras that go along with it.

Same here, i dont even watch this show for any of the gore..but more about surviving and keeping yourself together some when all they face is horrible situations..but if this show did not have amazing actors and producers about the never watch it

      • mjf

Rick wanted to live, not die..he has two kids to fight for..and friends who became like family to him..we all can say what we would do until we was really in a situation like all these people..

    • Tia

Ugh you suck, my husband says the same thing but Rick gets on my nerves soo bad sometimes.

      • Bruja

hehe! Rick is a mixed bounty for sure.

On one hand, he is showing qualities that disgusted him (and us) when we saw them in Shane, but this is not the same world with the same moral compass Rick (or we) wanted to hold onto. Fear the living indeed.

It’s been a hard road and a hard lesson, I think, finally learned, sadly with the loss of a huge part of his

humanity. His compassionate side, the Rick we first came to admire, if you will, doesn’t peek through as often as it used to, but I catch enough glimpses of it to still be #teamrick and support a Ricktatorship and dog-kabobs (or just Bob-kabobs!) over window dressing and creature comforts every time. 😉

        • mjf

All the rick hatters, this whole group all would of been dead without him..he made some really tuff decisions to save everybody..

          • Bruja

So true, and it only cost him a piece of his soul, part of his humanity and for awhile there, the love, respect and admiration of his son. It did cost him his wife.

    • mj

Morgans peace may or may not do him in..its a brutal world now to survive

      • Bruja

Morgan I think still wants to “clear”, but in a way that won’t harm the living, as in his head, he’s lost too much already, and all life is valuable. What I think he doesn’t grasp yet is that the living is what he needs to be mindful of.

Morgan is a good lone wolf, but I think people like Father Gabriel will be his total undoing. Peace and traitors don’t mix.

        • mjf

Yes, you just know father gabriels gonna betray the whole group or at least try, he is not to be trusted and maggie needs to warn them all..morgans peaceful ways can get himself and everybody else killed..but in all his new peace is good intentions..

          • Bruja

It’s a peace borne of self preservation, it won’t serve a group. I hope he survives, just not for this group.. he needs to go on alone, clearing.

    • mjf

Yep, especially when negan eventually arrives.ricks their only chance as leader.

      • Bruja

Yup, and you know he’s coming. Governor 2.0. Nasty, rude and greedy.

Those fools won’t stand a chance without Rick unless they want to be Negan’s fodder for supplies forever.

on my 30th bday!! Guess my party plan is taken care of, Walking Dead theme party and premier watching session! WHOOP 😉

  • mjf

I think the whole group deep down realizes they all need rick to survive
