Evelyn Lozada and Chad Ochocinco reportedly got into an intense argument this weekend over a condom receipt, which led to Chad allegedly head-butting his new wife and leaving her hospitalized. Chad was later arrested and charged with simple battery and misdemeanor domestic violence. But Chad’s woes didn’t end there! Shortly after news of his arrest made headlines, the former All-pro wide receiver was released by the Miami Dolphins. And now, the couple’s new reality show has been nixed by VH1!
Evelyn and Chad, who tied the knot just over a month ago, have been preparing for the premiere of their Basketball Wives spin-off series Ev & Ocho, scheduled for September 3 on VH1. But upon hearing the news of Chad’s arrest, the network has pulled the show from their fall line-up and released the following statement:
Due to the unfortunate events over the weekend and the seriousness of the allegations, VH1 is pulling the series ‘Ev and Ocho’ from its schedule and has no current plans of airing it.
The show chronicled Evelyn and Chad’s journey as a couple — dating, becoming engaged, and their 4th of July wedding ceremony. Unfortunately, their happy ending was short-lived, and this marriage may end up rivaling Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ infamously short union when it’s all said and done! (As of today, Evelyn and Chad have been married just 40 days.)
There has been no mention of the “D” word yet, but with Evelyn following through on the assault charges (and her reality show career now in jeopardy), it’s hard to imagine we won’t be seeing the divorce papers turning up on TMZ soon.
For posterity’s sake, here is the press release about Ev & Ocho including the fact that they planned on ending the first season with a two-part wedding finale:
