PHOTOS Breaking Boston’s Courtney DeVoy is pregnant, living with James Malley
A&E’s new reality series Breaking Boston features blue-collar Beantown women in their 20s who are struggling to overcome hardship and “break the cycle of their peers in a town where education, employment and opportunities are hard to come by.” For 26-year-old Courtney DeVoy those hardships include dropping out of school in seventh grade (due to anxiety issues and ADD) and being in a 10-year on-again, off-again relationship with James Malley, the father of her six-year-old daughter, Ellana.
In her bio on A&E it says of Courtney’s relationship with James Malley, “She has endured his infidelity and watched him struggle with drug addiction but knows she needs to let go of him to move on with her life.” But as the old adage says, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him about your plans.”
According to her Facebook page, it appears that James has finally stepped up as a boyfriend and as a father — which is a good thing because Courtney is pregnant with their second child! Check out her baby bump in this selfie tryptic posted on Facebook back in January:
Courtney revealed that her due date is May 5 and that she is having a little girl. Here’s a sonogram photo from Courtney’s ultrasound on December 2, 2013:

In addition to the pregnancy announcement, Courtney has also shared some other big news, including that she and James have bought a house together and that he presented her with a promise ring in late December! Here’s a photo of the commitment bling:
Courtney seems to be getting her life on track and has made numerous posts about how excited and grateful she is about it:
November 12, 2013 – The past few days have been so overwhelming and challenging as I stepped into a place of my own. Even though its only been a few days and I have many more challenges and things to come that ill have to face I am just grateful and happy for this opportunity. Grateful for the ones who helped me, my amazing daughter who couldn’t be any more of a good kid and adjusting to things as well as she is and of course my best friend Katie Corey for supporting me and coming and hanging out with me the past few days. I don’t really think that I got lucky with all these people and opportunities I think I’m just finally getting what I deserve. Thank you all! π
November 28, 2013 – Woke up in my new house to my daughter standing over me smiling coming to snuggle in bed with me. I have so much to be thankful for, especially this year, but mainly I am so thankful for this new place my daughter can finally call her own! I got so blessed in so many ways with such amazing people making everything possible for me and I of course am beyond thankful for that. My family and my friends who have continued to love, support, and help me I couldn’t thank more. And my boyfriend who after 11 years of ups and downs and us making people think we’re crazy, finally you’ve giving me the sense of security and hope that everything will be alright as our family is growing and our love. π Happy Thanksgiving!! Hope you all have an amazing day!
January 11, 2014 – I’m forever grateful but for some reason tonight when I was tucking Ellana into her own bed in her own room in OUR OWN home I felt such relief and just gratefulness. It may seem like nothing to some but it’s literally everything to me. I not only have that but I have a healthy relationship with my boyfriend I’ve always wanted, and a little baby girl kicking away in my belly that will be here before we know it! But above all I’m happy. Thank God. π β feeling blessed.
So it looks like we will have at least one happy ending on Breaking Boston Season 1! Be sure to tune in and follow Courtney’s story starting Thursday, March 13 at 10/9c on A&E. UPDATE – Judging from a couple tweets made by Courtney earlier today it appears as though she and James may be having difficulties again. π Then again, she could be talking about someone else. (I hope) Here are the tweets:
Trying to change a persons behavior is so exhausting, yet it seems more simple to do that than try and change your own. #timetoturnaround
