VIDEO Rascal Flatts own up to lip-syncing ‘Rewind’ at ACM Awards

Rascal-Flatts-Our-Bad

For those who watched the ACM Awards live it was pretty darn obvious something was off during the performance of the song “Rewind” by Rascal Flatts. Twitter blew up with accusations of lip-syncing and it turns out the army of naysayers were right on about this one.

Realizing that what happened was considered by many of their devout fans to be an affront, the band issued a mea culpa via both Twitter and Facebook.

In strange fashion, the “our bad” appeared as a capture of a message from a cell phone that read:

“After having performed several shows earlier in the week, Gary (LeVox) lost his voice. So, instead of cancelling our commitment to do the show, we made a last minute decision to lip-sync. We’ve never done it before, and we’re obviously not very good at it. We look forward to singing live again in the very near future!”

CBS has kept pretty tight watch over clips from the broadcast on social media. The best that is out there on a quick search is the following that a user posted to YouTube. It’s not the best quality, but you can still get an idea of how obvious it was that the vocal performance wasn’t live:
