RIP: DJ AM, a.k.a. Adam Goldstein, found dead of apparent overdose [PHOTOS]
TMZ reports that DJ AM was found dead today in New York at 5:20pm. Drug paraphernalia found at the scene suggests DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, died from an apparent drug overdose. He was 36 years old.
TMZ claims that Goldstein had not been heard from in days, and that his friends called the police. He had recently endured a heartbreaking split with his girlfriend, Hayley Wood.
In September 2008 DJ AM and Travis Barker survived a plane crash where four other people died.
His last tweet was this Tuesday, August 25:
“New York, new york, big city of dreams, but everything in new york aint always what it seems.”
DJ AM had the hit “Butterfly” in 2001 with his band Crazy Town. He’s collaborated on a number of albums with musicians like Madonna, Will Smith, and Papa Roach, and had been hired to DJ for a number of A-list celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio and Demi Moore. His former girlfriends include Nichole Ritchie and Mandy Moore.
