Disney star Debby Ryan was arrested on April 4th for driving under the influence in Los Angeles.
TMZ reports that the 22-year-old made a turn in her Audi and slammed into a Mercedes. Law enforcement sources indicated that the other driver claimed injury.
Ryan failed a field sobriety test when the police arrived. She was promptly arrested and charged with a felony DUI (it’s standard practice to arrest for a felony when there’s been a reported injury).
Ryan, who posted a $100,000 bail, took to Twitter to apologize for her actions:
Over the last few days I have had the chance to think about my actions, and I wish I had used better judgement. I recognize that I am a role model and have always worked hard to set a good example for my millions of fans. I am so sorry to disappoint everyone.
The Jessie star has been charged with 2 offenses, driving under the influence and driving with a .08 blood alcohol level (she blew a .11) or higher.
Because the injury was said to be minor, and because her BAL wasn’t drastically over the .08 threshold, her charges were dropped from a felony to a misdemeanor.
