Red Hot Chili Peppers lead singer Anthony Kiedis just so happened to help save a baby during the filming of their already viral Carpool Karaoke session with James Corden!

Kiedis sat down with England’s Radio X on Thursday for an interview when he shared the story of how the wild scenario unfolded. In an unaired portion, the band and Corden threw down in a dance off and while that was happening a mom rushed out with her baby. “A woman came out of her house holding a child, saying, ‘My baby, my baby, my baby can’t breathe,’” Kiedis said.

Kiedis, who has an 8-year-old son, was handed the baby after he rushed over:

“I thought, ‘I’m going to try and do a little baby C.P.R. real quick to see if I can get some air in this kid…’ I tried to open the mouth . . . shut, locked shut. So, I started rubbing the belly—bubbles came out of the mouth, the eyes rolled back into place. The ambulance showed up, and I handed the baby over, who was now breathing and fine. And we went back to Carpool Karaoke.”

As you can imagine, the crew with Radio X was pretty dumbfounded by the story. When they asked Anthony if he was for real he replied, “I’m serious. It was kind of a beautiful thing that we stopped for the dance-off. The baby needed help. We were there. . . . When you’re a dad, and somebody yells, ‘My baby,’ you jog across the street. . . . No hero. It was just a dance-off that ended with a seizure baby.”

Corden has since tweeted out about this story, verifying Anthony’s tale.
