VIDEO – See Gwyneth Paltrow sing Cee-Lo Green’s “Forget You” on Glee
Gwyneth Paltrow is really flexing her singing chops the week. First she performed her movie-country song “Country Strong” at the CMAs, and now she’s on Glee trying to tackle R&B pop.
This isn’t the first time the Oscar winning actress has opened up her pipes, she and Huey Lewis for covered “Cruisin'” for the movie “Duets,” sang a solo in the opening scene of the Truman Capote biopic Infamous, and recorded “Just my Imagination” with Babyface.
Paltrow’s got a pretty good singing voice, (as far as pitch and tone she could really kill Taylor Swift in a singing contest)and it’s kind of refreshing to see her singing so much. “Country Strong” is kind of a throwaway made-for-a-movie song, but it proved that she could probably sing a better country song if the opportunity ever arose. On Glee, her cover of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” on the “Umbrella/Singin’ in the Rain” mash-up with very thin (click here to listen on Just Jared), but her rendition of Cee-Lo’s delicious smash hit “F*ck You” (as “Forget You” for television) was kind of charming. It still couldn’t hold it’s own against a stronger, or more soulful singer, but she found a little bit of sass with this one. Keep looking for that sass, that edge, and you might be a big singer someday, baby.
