22-year-old Julia Corker, daughter of Tennessee Senator Bob Corker, was the victim of a carjacking Wednesday night near the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The incident happened around 9:15 PM when her Chevy Tahoe was parked at a red light just a few blocks from her and her father’s apartment when a man tapped on her window to ask for directions.

“She rolled down her window and someone grabbed her by the neck and threw her out,” Sen. Corker told Susan Ferrechio of the Washington Examiner.

Julia immediately called police and then her father. With the help of the Tahoe’s GPS locator the vehicle was recovered later that night in Seat Pleasant, Maryland.

From Politico.com:

Three police officers apprehended two suspects in the Addison Plaza Shopping Center around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night. The two men were parked in front of a Taco Bell. They were arrested without incident, according to Sgt. Leroy Patterson of the Seat Pleasant Police Department in Prince George’s County. Corker and his daughter were able to identify the suspects around midnight Wednesday at the Seat Pleasant police station.

Police have not released the identity of the two suspects.

Julia was a bit shaken up and has a sore neck this morning, but is otherwise doing fine.

Here is a video interview with Senator Bob Corker after the incident:

Julia Corker made headlines back in 2006 when these photos of her partying with friends surfaced on Facebook:

In the kissing picture Julia is the girl on the left. Sadly, in the dancing panty girl photo Julia isn’t “Panty Girl” but the young lady in the background wearing pink shorts and grinding on “Panty Girl.” The next morning she was a bit shaken up and had a sore head, but was otherwise fine.

UPDATE – Senator Corker’s office has issued this statement about the carjacking:

“On Wednesday evening around 9:15 p.m., Senator Corker’s daughter, Julia, 22, was involved in a carjacking in Northwest Washington. She was driving to the apartment she shares with her father approximately nine blocks from the Capitol and stopped at an intersection when she was pulled from her vehicle, a Chevy Tahoe, and thrown to the ground. She did not suffer serious injuries. She is a bit sore and shaken up but doing well. Senator Corker was nearby and able to get to the scene of the incident very quickly. The perpetrators were caught shortly after, were positively identified, and are in custody in Seat Pleasant, Maryland. Senator Corker is very grateful that Julia was not seriously injured, that those who committed the crime were quickly apprehended, and he is extremely appreciative to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, the Capitol Police, the FBI, and the Seat Pleasant Police Department for their quick response and professionalism.”
