It’s a slow celebrity gossip day so we’re extending our talents into the athletes not dating Madonna realm of sports! We have devised a method of predicting the winner of this year’s World Series between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Philadelphia Phillies. It’s a method often used by scientists that predict the future and involves matching up seven different Rays with seven different Phillies (we’re taking that to mean “from Philly”). Based on cultural, scientific, comic, gastronomical and other factors we’ve picked a winner in each matchup, which should accurately predict which team will win the fall classic! So, here goes:
Looks like the Phillies win 4-3! And we were kinda pulling for the underdog – GRRRR! Oh well. When it happens you know you heard it here first!
****UPDATE 10/29/08 – The Phillies are world champions after defeating the Rays in the last three innings of a game that started Monday, but was delayed due to rain. We predicted the winner correctly, but unlike our scorecard, the Phillies only needed five match-ups to win their series 4-1. Congratulations Philadelphia! (We weren’t too happy with the Phillies this year after holding on to Rollins in a five player keeper fantasy league. We did manage to get Victorino late in the draft though, so we had a little Phillie love in da house)
