South Park takes on Facebook and Social Networking

Last night’s epsiode of South Park was a doozy.  “You Have “0” Friends” went after the Social Networking phenomenon with the usual Matt Stone and Trey Parker zest.  It was the ususal plot setup as we find Kyle and Cartman loving their Facebook friends and tending virtual farms as our guy Stan wants to have nothing to do with it.  Stan gets dragged into the world even though he argues “we should be outside playing video games” when he is surprised with a Facebook page that Kyle and Cartman set up for him.

This is where another day in Stan’s South Park hell swirls out of control when his conscience guides him to make everyone his friend including his dad and grandmother.   Cartman discovers Chatroulette and is bombarded with what anyone who checks out that site is bombarded with, dudes “taking care of themselves”.  Cartman’s take on Chatroulette:  “If you want to find some quality friends, you have to wade through all the d**ks.”  Well said Cartman.

All in all it was another real good South Park episode, certainly one of the best of the new season.

Here is a clip of Cartman’s Podcast updating the status of the Facebook world in South Park.

And here is Kip Drordy beside himself when he actually gets a virtual friend via a request from Kyle.  Kyle discovers that having Kip as a friend is Facebook suicide, which Cartman is only glad to point out.

Good ol’ South Park, well I gotta go and get back to my virtual farm and deleting that one guy from high school who would pull out his eyelashes from my Facebook friends list.
