In case you haven’t heard, Republican South Carolina governor Mark Sanford has gone missing! He hasn’t been seen for several days, even by his wife Jenny, whose remarks seem remarkably calm: “He was writing something and wanted some space to get away from the kids,” she told The Associated Press. His spokesman Joel Sawyer says, “Gov. Sanford is taking some time away from the office this week to recharge after the stimulus battle and the legislative session and to work on a couple of projects that have fallen by the wayside.”
Not to worry folks! (Which you obviously weren’t) A starcasm investigative reporter has tracked down the missing governor and provided this snapshot that shows he is clearly in good health and in good spirits:
Apparently Governor Sanford isn’t opposed to all stimulus packages. Hi-ooooooo!
(She wouldn’t want me to say anything, but our mystery investigative reporter is none other than Carmen San Diego, who is a bit down on her luck since losing her job six months ago. I’m not sure how she got in the hotel room.)
