Now iPhones can detect skin cancer!

Ever since I lost my wife to her iPhone I’ve been a little weary of hearing how great it is from everybody.  “It’s just a phone,” I would argue as my wife ignored me for her new and much more interesting companion.   That WAS my argument until I discovered the handyscope, a device that you can attach to your iPhone and detect skin cancer!  No mas, yo win iPhone, I quit!

That’s right, you can take a break from playing Angry Birds or Words With Friends throw on the ol’ handyscope and check to see if your friends or co-workers have cancer.  Here is how the contraption works straight from the German company, FotoFinder, that invented it:

The handyscope device and its App work together intelligently.  The handling is self-explanatory as you control everything with a tap, drag or swipe of your fingers: Just attach the handyscope to your iPhone, switch on the light, open the App and you are ready to start skin cancer screening. The lens is directly put on the patients’ skin, illuminating it with polarized light. With just one tap, pictures can be captured and viewed with a magnification of up to 20X.  The brilliant dermoscopic photos show important details at a glance.  This facilitates the decision whether a mole is harmless or suspicious.  Handyscope also enhances communication as you can show the result to your patient.

What can I say? That is much more interesting and valuable than I am.  If that break down didn’t quite do it for you the company has provided a handy how to video via YouTube.  Here’s the clip:

I can already here my wife now, “Not now honey I’ve got to go. I’m checking out a mole on Betty that she’s concerned about.”
