Mystery Science Theater 3,000 Live as Cinematic Titanic on Olbermann

YES!  Janitor Joel gets launched into space by evil bosses and is forced to watch horrible B-movies just to see how much one man can take and to find the perfect terrible movie as a weapon for diabolical world domination.  Joel creates robot friends and in the process uses the parts that are required to control when the bad movies stop or start.  Joel and robots snark their days away watching mind-blowingly bad movies. That’s it pretty much and it was enough to forge a legend called Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Before the word snark even existed, heck even before starcasm.net, there was the legendary game changing film riffers from Mystery Science Theater 3000.  Joel, Crow T. Robot, and Tom Servo are living legends.  Well one of them is, the other two are robots but you know what I mean.  We love these guys and this show in all its glory.

The original mad genius cast behind this cult classic has been reformed for a while as Cinematic Titanic.  They have released a number of DVD’s and have even taken their show on the road.  They’ve ditched the robots but the original riffers are there taking on yet more wonderfully terrible movies.  Our heroes recently appeared on Countdown with Keith Olbermann.

Here is the video interview from the show.  Olbermann is pretty ecstatic in a nerdy way.  We understand how that could happen.

East Meets Watts.  Oh man did we mention that we love these guys.  At the website for Cinematic Titanic they describe themselves as:

“CINEMATIC TITANIC is the new feature-length movie riffing show from the creator and original cast of MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000. Like MST3K, the show was created by JOEL HODGSON and features the same team that first brought the Peabody award winning cult-classic series to life: TRACE BEAULIEU (Crow, Dr. Forrester), J. ELVIS WEINSTEIN (Tom Servo, Dr. Erhardt), FRANK CONNIFF (TV’s Frank), and MARY JO PEHL (Pearl Forrester). Cinematic Titanic continues the tradition of riffing on ‘the unfathomable’, ‘the horribly great’, and the just plain ‘cheesy’ movies from the past.

Founded in late 2007, Cinematic Titanic is an artist-funded, and artist-owned and operated venture. With nine feature-length DVDs (available in our store) and an ever-growing schedule of live shows, the CT crew is reconnecting with MSTies around the world as well as bringing new fans to the comedy art form first introduced by this group 20 years ago on television.”

Starcasm.net tips our hat to the trailblazing wonderment that is MST3000.
