Kate Winslet and her husband director Sam Mendes have split! Their lawyers issued a statement stating: “The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting of their children.”
The couple have been married since 2003, and have one child together, 6-year-old Joe Alfie Winslet Mendes. Winslet also has a daughter from her previous marriage to assistant director Jim Threapleton, 9-year-old Mia Honey Threapleton.
Winslet and Mendes met in 2001 when he was the artistic director for the play at the Donmar Warehouse Theater, which he approached Winslet about appearing in. The couple married on May 24, 2003 on the Caribbean island of Anguilla. In 2008 Winslet played the lead role of April Wheeler in Revolutionary Road, directed by her husband Sam Mendes for which she won the Golden Globe for Best Leading Actress. Mendes received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Director for the film.
