VIDEO: Jennifer Lopez to perform at World Cup opening ceremony

Jennifer Lopez At 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!'

Just one day after announcing that she was backing out of the 2014 World Cup opening ceremony in São Paulo, Jennifer Lopez announced that she will, in fact, be heading to the city to sing.

Speaking with the Associated Press last night, Lopez had this to say:

I’m coming. I leave tonight. We always were going. I think people get anxious, especially with me and my schedule when I’m like, ‘Ah, OK, I can leave this day, that day, I don’t know if we can make it….’ People get nervous and I think it was a little bit premature to announce anything. But we are definitely going.

Lopez blamed “production issues” for the cancellation. But speculation was widespread that she backed out (before backing back in) due to former boyfriend Casper Smart’s alleged flings with two transgender models he met on Twitter.

Whatever the reasons for the pirouetting, she’ll be there on Thursday night, in front of a huge international audience, alongside rapper Pitbull and Brazillian singer Claudia Leitte.

Of course, Lopez is no stranger to Brazilian audiences. Here’s some footage from her most recent concert tour in the country:

And, for good measure, here’s “We Are One (Ole Ola),” the song she’ll be performing. In case you feel like mocking something to liven up your Wednesday:
