Interview with Lindsey Grant, ex-wife of Ty Brown from The Bachelorette

Lindsey Grant starcasm interview

For most of us, this season of the The Bachelorette has been a drama-packed and entertaining spectacle highlighted by professional wrestler Justin “Rated R” Rego‘s bravado, a hilarious feud between bully Craig McKinnon and the chronically bullyable Jonathan “The Weatherman” Novack and Kasey Kahl’s heart, rose and shield tattoo. But for Lindsey Grant, a 32-year-old singer/songwriter out of Nashville, the televised competition for the heart of Ali Fedotowsky has been anything but entertaining, serving instead as a painful reminder of betrayal and heartbreak.

One of the contestants on the show, 31-year-old Ty Brown, was married to Lindsey Grant for just over two years before the couple separated and officially got divorced in January of this year. Within a few months, the hunky guitar picker from Mississippi was signed on as a contestant on Season 6 of The Bachelorette. During the second episode, Ty confessed to Ali that he had been married before, but downplayed the reasons why it ended saying that “it was one of those things where it just wasn’t right.”

But that’s only one side of the story. As we mentioned in a previous post, Lindsey Grant has a different tale to tell. She was courteous enough to talk with us and answer a few questions about her relationship with Ty Brown and his decision to go on a reality dating show so soon after their split.

STARCASM: How did you meet Ty and how long did you date before getting married?

LINDSEY: I met Ty through a mutual friend and we had a bit of a whirlwind courtship getting engaged after 7 months. We were married 5 months later.

S: He said on the show that he “got divorced and it was not a bad divorce, it was one of those things where it just wasn’t right.” You have said that the divorce was “anything but amicable” and that Ty had been “untruthful” to you. Could you elaborate on that?

L: I’m not really ready to talk about my relationship with Ty anymore than that it just was not amicable nor was it “not a bad divorce.” I found multiple pieces of evidence that he had been untruthful and others that questioned his character as a person.

S: Your divorce went through on January 12 of this year. When and how did you find out Ty was going to be on The Bachelorette?

Lindsey Grant

L: I found out Ty was going on the show through a friend at the beginning of March, not even two months after we had been divorced.

S: Do you think Ty went on the show to “find true love” with Ali or was just using it as an opportunity to promote his music career?

L: I’m sure people can figure that out on their own.

S: Have you watched any of the episodes this season?

L: I really haven’t had time to watch the show but I’ve heard some interesting things.

S: What do you think of Ty the musician?

L: When we were married, he would always come to me with questions about music and want to try and learn my songs. It was actually quite endearing in a way. But you know, some people either have it or they don’t. I really don’t want to bad mouth anyone, but I’m sure that at some point during the show he will pull out the guitar if he hasn’t already and everyone can make that judgment for themselves.

(Ty did pull out the guitar in episode 2 and performed the song “Livin’ In The Moment” while shirtless on the beach. Here is a video clip of him in the studio singing “Wanted Man” in preparation for the launch of TyBrownMusic.com. You can see more Ty music videos HERE.)

S: Have you talked with Ty since it was announced he would be on the show or since he has been back home after filming?

L: I have spoken with him a few times since he’s been back. Most of it is personal but he did call and apoplogize for not letting me find out through him that he would be going on the show.

S: If you could sit down with Ali, what would you tell her?

L: If you do not wish to be lied to, do not ask questions.

Thanks again to Lindsey for taking the time to talk with us about what is surely a sore subject. I’ve had some serious relationships go bad and I can’t imagine what it would be like to see my ex immediately afterward dating someone else on national television!
