Soccer mom Meleanie Hain and husband Scott Hain found dead after apparent murder-suicide

Meleanie Hain made headlines on September 11, 2008 when she openly wore a 9mm Glock pistol on her hip to her 5-year-old daughter’s soccer game. The 31-year-old mother of three and her husband, 33-year-old Scott Hain, were found dead from gunshot wounds in their Lebanon, Pennsylvania home Wednesday night in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

Neighbors told the Lebanon Daily News that shortly before 911 was called at 6:20 p.m. that the Hain’s children ran from the house shouting, “Daddy shot mommy!”

Lebanon police Chief Daniel Wright was guarded with information as detectives began the preliminary stages of the investigation late Wednesday night. He acknowledged that the Hains were both found dead and had suffered gunshot wounds inside their 1 ½-story brick home in a quiet neighborhood in Lebanon’s southside. He would not provide any additional details, other than to say that police do not feel any other people were involved.

Meleanie Heard’s infamous soccer game incident lead tot he confiscation of her weapon by the the county sheriff, but she got it back after winning an appeal in the courts. The victory lead to Melanie becoming a rallying figure for 2nd Amendment rights advocates around the nation.

According to the LDN, Meleanie was running a day-care center at her home.

Scott Hain is a former parole officer and prison guard.
