The past few weeks have ushered in the fast rise and even more breakneck fall of a previously little-known Tennessee commune, or intentional community, called The Garden when a couple of its members started producing compelling TikToks and inviting anyone and everyone to come visit them. The fact that they published their address on their TikToks and marketed The Garden as a kind of utopia raised red flags for many people as communities like this usually have a vetting process and don’t so blatantly market themselves. This led viewers to investigate The Garden, and the people currently living there, further, and to speculate even harder. Is The Garden a cult or just a bunch of people trying to live sustainably and save the Earth?

Most “scams” social media influencers are associated with involve faulty or potentially dangerous weight loss products, MLM schemes, products that are of a poorer quality than advertised, etc. These are not harmless, but they are far less severe than outright swindling money directly from followers’ bank accounts using bad checks. This is the type of scam that 22-year-old Instagram and YouTube influencer Kayla Massa pulled on her followers. She managed to get 45 of her followers to trust her enough to gain access to their bank accounts with the promise of bringing them riches. The only people Kayla was interested in enriching were herself and her accomplices. She was able to glean $1.5 million from her scheme before getting arrested this February.

Marina Balmasheva, a Russian 35-year-old influencer, has shocked the world with news that she’s in a relationship with, and plans to marry her stepson after raising him when he was a young boy. She’s shared multiple photos of herself with her stepson, but the boldest was a side-by-side of herself with Vladimir when he was only 7-years-old, next to a photo of them now, as a romantic couple.

The latest young woman to come forward with a story about former Blood on the Dance Floor frontman Dahvie Vanity is a 19-year-old woman named “Winter.” She shared her story with YouTuber Pastel Belle in a very emotional interview. She was sexually assaulted by Dahvie Vanity starting when she was 15-years-old up until her 18th birthday last year. She actually spent her 18th birthday with Dahvie during in a vacation-turned-nightmare.

Today Chris Hansen interviewed Jeffree Star, now a huge YouTuber and makeup industry titan, who once went on tour with Dahvie Vanity during his former stint as a singer. Jeffree is currently getting heat on social media for calling Dahvie out for his predatory behaviors in the past and then going on to work with him for years, even calling him a “brother” despite all the despicable things he accused Dahvie of. Now many girls and women are coming forward to support the claims Jeffree once made about Dahvie.
