Whitney Houston’s rep has confirmed that the 47-year-old singer, and long-time struggling addict is back in rehab for “drug and alcohol” issues. She has been involved in an out patient program for the past ten days to “support her long-standing recovery process.”
Houston has previously entered rehab twice before, in 2004 and 2005. In 2004, she famously bristled at the insinuation that she used crack, mostly because it was “cheap.” She told Diane Sawyer, “Crack is cheap. I make too much for me to ever smoke crack,” Houston said at the time. “Let’s get that straight, okay? I don’t do crack. I don’t do that. Crack is whack.”
Whitney made a “comeback” album in 2009, and media rounds included an Oprah interview where she claimed to be clean and sober. Her performances, however, in 2010 were unpredictable.
Unfortunately, a source close to Whitney’s ex Bobby Brown claims that it was indeed crack that sent Whitney back to rehab. The source told Radar Online: “Whitney is doing crack again. It’s the worst it’s ever been. Whitney went on tour again, and that’s when the relapse occurred.” Bobby, who has also struggled with drug addiction, is apparently very worried about his ex wife.
In a sadly related matter Whitney and Bobby’s 18-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina, who was recently photographed snorting a white powder. Hopefully she’s not following in her parents’ footsteps!
